TotalEnergies’ H2Nodes hydrogen dispenser become the first to receive certification in the Netherlands

The Netherlands Metrology Institute (NMi) and National Measurement Institute for the Netherlands (VSL) worked together to calibrate and certify the hydrogen dispensers. The hydrogen dispensers have been tested for accuracy and compliance with Dutch legislation of fuel pumps to supply H2 to fuel cell electric vehicles. The NMi are the leading independent specialist for legal metrology testing and inspection services in Europe.

Certification of dispensers is standard practice for gasoline, diesel, and even alternative gas fuels like CNG and LNG, but this is a first of a kind certification for hydrogen dispensers.

VSL’s newly certified reference test device and Emerson’s approved flow meters were key elements of the certification process. The flow meters used at Arnhem included Emerson’s Micro Motion HPC015 Coriolis, designed for high operating pressures.

Software rewrites and extensive testing took place to ensure the functionality of the revised design.
